Hampton, VA seventh-graders receive iBooks

About 120 7th-grade students at Lindsay Middle School in Hampton, Virginia have been issued iBooks for use in the classroom and at home, according to the Hampton Roads Daily Press, as noted by MacCentral. The pilot program is part of the school district’s initiative to expand the role of technology in education. In order to reduce the risk of problems encountered with iBooks issued at Henrico County, the school district has decided to start with a small pilot program and require parents to be trained with the new computers before they can be taken home. Additionally, using the iBooks for Internet access at home will not be allowed at first, although it may be available next year.
