EarthLink founder to introduce wireless ISP

EarthLink founder and chairman Sky Dayton plans to unveil his latest company today, a wireless Internet service provider dubbed “Boingo,” according to c|net. The company will employ Wi-Fi technology, which provides wireless access to computers up to 300 feet away (generally employing the 802.11 standard), with subscribers paying US$75 a month for unlimited access to any of the networks. Dayton hopes to succeed where others have failed by modeling his company after EarthLink and partnering with existing providers, rather than spending the money to develop and build its own network.
