Court ruling gives Excite@Home life—until February

A bankruptcy court judge has approved US$355 million in contracts between high-speed Internet provider Excite@Home and its cable partners, including Cox Communications, Comcast, Mediacom and others, according to ZDNet. The ruling is seen as a win for all parties involved, providing a much needed cash infusion to keep Excite@Home afloat while customers are moved in a more seamless fashion to new cable networks being established by the cable companies. The contracts are good through February, when the cable companies are expected to have switched all of their existing cable customers to their own networks.
