HP announces set-top digital audio player

Hewlett-Packard has launched the Digital Entertainment Center de100c, a set-top digital audio player that functions independently from a computer, features a 40GB hard drive, CD recorder, and can play Internet radio stations. The device is designed to integrate with a user’s home audio set up, and mimics some of the product rumors that surfaced prior to Apple’s announcement of the iPod. The device will sell for a about US$1,000.
