In an effort to spur sales and differentiate itself from the competition, Gateway today announced a new focus on LCD displays that includes several new computer bundles that include the flat-panel displays. At the lowest end, the US$999 300SP features a 1GHz Intel Celeron, 128MB of RAM, 20GB hard drive, CD-RW, and 15-inch flat panel display. Apple has long been rumored to be working on an LCD iMac, although the company has never alluded to any such product. Earlier this year, Apple shifted to an all-LCD display line-up, leaving the iMac as its only product that uses a bulkier CRT display.
