Glendale, California, June 15, 1998 — The PandaWave is proud to announce
the release of version 1.0 of BugLink, an exiting new bug tracking system
for Macintosh and Microsoft Windows software developers.
What is BugLink?
BugLink is a bug tracking system for both the Macintosh and Microsoft
Windows 95/NT. BugLink consists of a central bug database and server
application, and clients which allow software developers and testers
download the bugs they are interested in.
BugLink uses a proprietary protocol built on top of TCP/IP which minimizes
the amount of network traffic between clients and servers. Users can also
work offline, examining and modifying bugs in his local cache, uploading
changes to the central server in a single burst. This makes BugLink the
ideal solution for developers who work at home or at remote sites. Also, by
using custom software technology, BugLink requires no additional support,
such as a third party database engine or file sharing.
BugLink is cross-platform; users on both Macintosh systems and Windows can
log into the same database. Users can even use the client and server on the
same Macintosh or Windows machine, making it ideal for small development
groups who do not wish to invest in a central server computer.
BugLink is available over the Internet, with a 5 user license starting at
$299.00. Copies can be downloaded from http://www.pandawave.com.
Unregistered servers permit up to 5 users to connect to the server for up
to 30 days; after the server expires, previously entered bugs may be
examined, but new bugs may not be added to the database.

o Simple, intuitive interface. A simple yet powerful interface allows you
to see the complete status of a bug at a glance.
o Unlimited projects. A server can maintain as many separate custom
projects as disk space permits. Different software projects can be created
for different applications.
o Fully customizable database. New custom fields may be easily added to a
new or existing project.
o Compact database consumes very little disk space, even for a huge number
of bugs.
o Fast queries. On a 200MHz Pentium Pro, a query on a 10,000 bug database
took only 8 seconds in preliminary tests. And as only the query results are
returned to a client, query results are independent of bandwidth.
o Powerful queries allow developers to see only the bugs that they are
interested in, without wading through hundreds of extraneous reports.
o Clients may operate ‘on-line’ or ‘off-line’; users may download the bugs
they are interested in to a local cache and modify them off-line from the
server.
o Custom TCP/IP protocol requires no additional support or software, such
as shared files or a third-party database engine.
o Try before you buy. Unregistered copies are fully functional for 30 days
after installation.
