Thursby Software Systems today announced that it has released upgrades to their Mac networking products, DAVE and ADmitMac. Both products have received significant enhancements for compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) release. As well as providing networking stability over that of Apple’s standard Leopard offering, more advanced features are included ranging from security, performance, Dfs, file compatibility, and a more complete Active Directory offering.

Thursby Software has made available a beta version of its new AD Commander technology for customer review and input. AD Commander is designed for administrators responsible for maintaining Active Directory user accounts and is the only offering of its kind for the Macintosh, according to the company. AD Commander allows the user to create, modify and delete organizational users, groups, user and computer accounts. It can also be used to configure home folders for users, handling the folder creation and setting the appropriate ownership.

Thursby Software today announced that it is now shipping ADmitMac, a new Mac OS X software solution that allows Macintosh computers to participate in Microsoft networks, taking advantage of the directory services provided by both Active Directory and NT Directory Services. With ADmitMac, users’ home directories can be kept on Microsoft servers and are all managed from one place (the directory). Users can log into Macs or PCs using the same account and password and have full access to their files and desktop settings.

Thursby Software today announced that they are offering users of DoubleTalk a US$99 upgrade to DAVE, the company’s cross-platform file and print sharing application. Users must fax or mail in proof of purchase for their DoubleTalk product and complete a form which is available on the Thursby Web site. “This will allow DoubleTalk users the ability to migrate to Mac OS X,” said Thursby president, George Colley.

Thursby Software today posted DAVE 4.0.2, an update to the company’s cross-platform file and print sharing application. Version 4.0.2 includes better support for Mac OS 9 applications that are HFS+ aware, enhanced browsing for networks with large numbers of servers, improved copying for large data files, better support for Mac OS X 10.2.2, and more. The update is free to DAVE 4.0 users.
