MacUpdate today announced two new features to its site — free developer file mirroring and a new Universal Binary search service. “MacUpdate now provides free file hosting for Macintosh developers. Instead of creating a complicated file management system with server clusters for hosting, we integrated the file upload and management seamlessly into the developer submission system,” notes the site.

MacUpdate today announced an upgrade to its free Developer Tools section. Our friends at MacUpdate.com have announced the release of MUMenu 2.0, a free menu item application that dynamically updates itself to display the latest Macintosh software updates posted to the MacUpdate Web site.

The popular software update site MacUpdate has announced additional features free to its Members. Members can now go to their Preferences page and select precisely what columns they’d like to be displayed on their ad-free MacUpdate pages. (OS, user rating, license, size, downloads, category, etc…). “Customizable columns is great because now Members can not only select between three different types of layouts, but they can customize what information they see in each column.

MacUpdate is once again offering a weekly giveaway to visitors of its site. Prizes usually consist of free copies of registered software or hardware products. This week’s prize is The Mouse USB optical mouse from MacMice.

Starting today, MacUpdate is giving away a free iPod mini to a hand-picked user that posts the most useful and quality user reviews on software titles listed on the site. MacUpdate staff said it will be monitoring every review posted (as they normally do). Be sure to leave your name and e-mail address in the review fields so they can contact you if you are picked. MacUpdate, a site that monitors and reports on the latest Macintosh software version releases, has announced that Mac developers can submit their software updates to the site, which will usually be reviewed and posted within an hour, free of charge. “Our ultimate goal at MacUpdate is to post updates to the site within minutes after they have been uploaded by the developer,” stated Joel Mueller, general manager and founder of MacUpdate.
