LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling today announced enhancements that reduce graininess and improve fine detail reproduction for the company’s DVD / CD labeling. The results are instantly visible on photos, graphics and text on LightScribe CDs and DVDs. The enhanced image quality is available immediately through a free upgrade of the LightScribe system software and requires no additional changes to customers’ systems or new hardware and media.

LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling today announced its LightScribe Simple Labeler, a labeling tool designed to enhance customers’ initial CD and DVD labeling experience, is available for free download and comes bundled with many LightScribe-enabled PCs and after-market drives. LightScribe customers can now label discs in a few easy clicks. The Simple Labeler requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

SmileOnMyMac has released an image package of LightScribe design backgrounds that can be downloaded and installed for use with DiscLabel, the CD/DVD label design software for the Mac. The designs are provided by LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling and are available at no cost. Over 50 designs are available in a variety of LightScribe layout formats and a wide range of themes that are decorative and whimsical.

LightScribe and LaCie today announced they are partnering to offer direct disc labeling drive for the Mac, allowing users to burn the data side of a disc, then flip the disc over and burn a precise, iridescent label with their desired text and graphics using the same laser that burns the data. No printer, permanent marker or adhesive labeling is required to develop and burn creative designs onto the CD or DVD. LaCie d2 DVD±RW Double Layer drives with LightScribe will be available in early 2005.
