G5 praised as ‘the ideal Mac’

Though doubting it is, as Apple claims, the fastest desktop computer in the world, Infoworld calls the Power Mac G5 “the ideal Mac.” It may not be the fastest in raw computing speed, but the reviewer says that “I/O throughput, especially memory performance, is infinitely more important than raw computing speed.” Infoworld also praises the G5’s design, “efficient and highly integrated system chip set,” and Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) operating system. Yager said that a long business trip gave him plenty of time to immerse himself in Mac OS X. “I started exploring the PowerBook and Mac OS X on the plane. Four hours later, I was still exploring and the battery meter said I had 30 minutes left. I was using Microsoft Office X and knocking around in Apple’s development tools… Since I got back from my trip, I have continued to use the PowerBook G4 by choice.
