Apple releases iMovie HD update

Apple today released iMovie HD 5.0.1, an update to its popular consumer video editing application. iMovie HD, which was announced earlier this month at Macworld Expo as part of iLife ’05, allows users to capture and edit High Definition Video (HDV) from the new generation of HDV camcorders. According to the release notes, the 2.4MB update addresses issues related to video and audio synchronization for DV projects and other minor issues. The iMovie update is available via the Mac OS X Software Update preference pane.

According to a page buried in Apple’s Web site, iMovie HD–part of the company’s new US$79 iLife ’05 suite–will be available separately for $10. iMovie HD allows users to capture and edit High Definition Video (HDV) from the new generation of HDV camcorders. It also includes Magic iMovie, which automatically imports your video into separate clips, adds titles, transitions and music, all in one step. In addition, iMovie HD offers speed enhancements, non-destructive trimming, more transitions and effects, and support for MPEG-4 video.
