IDG World Expo today announced that Apple, IBM, HP and a number of other technology and life sciences companies will exhibit at the upcoming Bio-ITWorld Conference & Expo, which will take place March 25-27, 2003 at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center.

Business Today reports that IDG World Expo head Charlie Greco is leaving the company to work for the technology consulting firm Gartner Group, as its trade show chief. “The departure of the longtime Macworld chief could complicate efforts to ensure that corporate star Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, makes an appearance at the trade show next year, Greco acknowledged yesterday,” notes the story.

IDG World Expo today announced that last week’s Macworld Conference & Expo attracted 90,473 attendees to the Moscone Center in San Francisco, slightly up from the 87,890 visitors last year. More than 330 companies showcased products on the Macworld expo floor, and thousands of conference attendees participated in a wide variety of educational sessions throughout the week. The next Macworld Expo will take place at New York City’s Javits Center, July 14 – 18, 2003.

IDG today confirmed that Apple will be attending Macworld Expo San Francisco in January 2003, and also said that the two companies are in discussions regarding Apple’s role in
upcoming Macworld Expos. “On Monday, October 21, Apple and IDG World Expo confirmed that Apple will indeed participate in Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco in January 2003 as originally planned, with a presence on the show floor as well as the keynote presentation from Steve Jobs,” IDG said in a statement it sent to MacMinute.

IDG World Expo CEO Charlie Greco recently told the Boston Globe that he isn’t pleased with Apple’s statement on Thursday that it won’t participate in Macworld Expo Boston in 2004, and that he could still change Apple’s mind, even if it means “a little arm-twisting.” Greco hinted that if Apple doesn’t participate in the Boston Expo, then he won’t let the company attend Macworld San Francisco either.
