Gefen today announced three new products for component video sources and displays. All three include supplemental audio so HDTV viewing is fully enabled. Two new Component Audio to HDMI Adapters offer plug and play methods of intermixing different formats within the same HDTV system. In the ideal, they enable component video sources with either digital (TOSlink) or analog (RCA stereo) audio to be digitized and delivered in HDMI format.

Gefen has announced new DVI/Component/HDMI Adapters, which allow users to send HD video to the display with digital audio in TOSlink and S/PDIF formats. The Adapter comes equipped with one DVI, one TOSlink and one S/PDIF input. The HDMI display and audio receiver connect to the unit’s digital outputs. Installation is plug and play with the unit running on its own 5v power supply.

Gefen today announced new DVI and HDMI All-Fiber cables. Both DVI and HDMI All-Fiber cables come in varying pre-cut lengths with either DVI or HDMI connectors on both ends to support today’s digital video computers, audio/video sources and displays. “The elimination of copper components and the full reliance on fiber optics provides the perfect conduit for sensitive information and those with EMI concerns,” said Hagai Gefen, president and CEO.

Gefen today announced two new dual link DVI products that work with high definition video transmitted through dual link DVI, which uses all 24 pins of the connector to send video at resolutions up to 3840 x 2400 at 60Hz. The DVI-DL Switcher (US$699) allows you to connect two sources to a display equipped with just one input, while the DVI-2000 HD ($1399) uses a sender and receiver system to send dual link DVI video up to 1640 feet (500 meters) over fiber optic cables. Gefen has announced two new extension solutions for Apple’s new 20 and 23-inch HD Cinema Displays. The 10 foot ($99) and the 15 foot ($129) cable-only solutions require no hardware or external power to operate. On each product, three cables are bundled together and capped on each end by three connectors: DVI, Firewire and USB. Gefen’s combo cable requires a simple connection to the computer on one end, and to the extended display and peripherals on the other end.

Gefen today announced the availability of new Apple HD Cinema Display Extension Kits. Distances ranging from 10 to 300 feet are bridged by multiple cables that sustain high definition resolutions up to 1920×1200. Kits are currently available for the following lengths: 10, 15, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 100, 160 and 300 feet. Two of the kits, the 30 and 60 foot, are available in an alternate version that uses less than one inch wide cabling in conduit. Prices range from US$217 to $4065. Read More

Gefen today announced two new high definition video switchers offering greater flexibility and support for a wide selection of high definition video displays and sources by accommodating both HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) and DVI (digital visual interface) devices. The ex-tend-it 2×1 and the 4×1 HDMI Switchers connect either two or four high definition video sources to one display. Gefen today announced the availability of its 1×4 VGA Hub, a small metallic box that connects to the computer on one side and outputs to four VGA video monitors on the other side. With the 1×4 VGA Hub, the same computer graphics can be sent to four displays at multiple resolutions up to 1920×1200. The new VGA Hub is available now from Gefen for US$199.

Gefen today announced the release of its ex-tend-it 4×4 DVI Matrix Switch, an addition to the ex-tend-it Professional Series that combines multiple, cross-platform DVI video sources with multiple DVI displays to create an integrated environment without networking or patching cords. It may be used with digital video sources, displays and projectors, provided each source and destination uses DVI connectors to send and receive visual data.

Gefen today announced the release of its new ex-tend-it SDI to DVI Adapter, which enables high definition serial digital video transmitted through SDI to be converted to DVI (digital visual interface) for output to DVI displays. It works with all SDI and serial digital video sources and outputs a DVI signal compatible with LCD monitors, HDTVs (high definition televisions), video projectors and plasma displays with DVI. Gefen today announced a new extension solution to transmit power, as well as ADC display and USB signals to Apple’s line of flat-panel digital displays. Each ex-tend-it ADC Extender cable is 16-feet in length, and two cables can be paired to reach distances of 32-feet. A plug-and-play solution requiring minimal hook-up time, users simply plug one end of the cable into the computer and the other end into the display’s cord, which typically adds another four-feet to the length.

Gefen today announced the Ex-tend-it USB-500, which enables USB devices to be operated up to 1,650-feet from a computer. The US$799 USB-500 uses “Extreme USB” technology, has a four-port USB Hub built-in and employs fiber optic cables to connect the sender and receiver units. According to Gefen, the sender is connected to the computer; the receiver is connected to the USB peripheral. Both units are connected with fiber optics in lengths up to 1,650 feet. Read More
