Power Mac G5s shipping with Mac OS X 10.2.7
Apple told MacMinute today that the new Power Mac G5 will ship with Mac OS X 10.2.7, an update that will offer a redesigned kernel and updated system software math libraries tuned specifically for the 64-bit PowerPC G5 processor. This updated kernel delivers “the most substantial benefits of 64-bit computing” by breaking through the 4GB memory barrier, enabling the OS to use all of the RAM that can be added to the G5 (currently 8GB).
