Filemaker ODBC update released

FileMaker has released a new ODBC update for Mac OS X for use with FileMaker Pro 7, Developer 7 and Server 7 Advanced. The update includes the FileMaker ODBC Client Driver for Mac OS X (10.3.x or 10.2.x), which was previously only available for Windows. “The ODBC Client Driver software gives Mac users the ability to use FileMaker products as an ODBC data source for sharing information with a wide range of Mac desktop, database or web applications.

FileMaker today announced the limited-time availability of a free FileMaker Applications Suite for purchasers of FileMaker Pro 7. The suite of ready-to-use applications is comprised of FileMaker Meetings, FileMaker Tasks, FileMaker Work Requests and FileMaker Donations. The suite has a value of US$385. The free Applications Suite offer is valid in the U.S. and Canada for customers who purchase and register new, upgrade and education versions of FileMaker Pro 7 between March 28, 2005 and June 22, 2005.

FileMaker has announced the immediate availability of the FileMaker Server 7 and FileMaker Server 7 Advanced v3 updaters. The FileMaker Server 7v3 updater addresses reported stability issues involving complex applications with large numbers of clients, and also includes important fixes for issues related to automated backups, maximum cache size settings and external authentication. The FileMaker Server 7 Advanced v3 updater is comprised of two downloads. The first, described above, updates the Server component of the software.

FileMaker announced today that FileMaker Pro 7 was the most awarded database software in 2004, garnering more than 25 awards and top-rated reviews. The company said that the number of awards won by FileMaker Pro 7, which was launched in March 2004, was more than the combined total of 2004 awards won by seven other workgroup databases. FileMaker Server updates to fix stability issues

FileMaker plans to release a v3 updater for both FileMaker Server 7 and FileMaker Server 7 Advanced in early March 2005. The company said that the v3 updater will fix the known stability issues with FileMaker Server, which a small number of customers have reported. “All known cases occurred with complex and/or large applications, under heavy load (>50 concurrent clients). FileMaker does not believe these stability issues will affect the majority of our customer base,” the company said in a statement.
