Today at IBC 2004 — Europe’s key trade show for media, video and broadcasting professionals — Apple announced some of the new features in the next version of Final Cut Pro. The future version will support MPEG-2 IMX, and Panasonic’s P2.

Apple has also released Final Cut Pro 4.1.1 and LiveType 1.1.1 via the Software Update preference pane. According to the release notes, FCP 4.1.1 addresses issues that may be encountered with the editing software if you are using the Simplified Chinese Input Method. LiveType 1.1.1 addresses compatibility issues with third-party LiveFonts, textures, and objects. Apple is now offering two promotions for Final Cut Pro 4 and DVD Studio Pro 2. Now through February 28, 2004, you can buy any Mac and save US$300 when you purchase Final Cut Pro 4 and DVD Studio Pro 2 at the same time. Or you can save $150 if you purchase Final Cut Pro 4 and DVD Studio Pro 2 without a Mac. The offers are available only at participating Apple Authorized Resellers and require a mail-in rebate from Apple’s Web site.

Apple has released Final Cut Pro 4.0.2, an update to its professional editing software for film, HD, SD and DV. The update is “strongly recommended for all users working with DV and DVCPRO50 devices. This update resolves an issue in which certain Final Cut Pro configurations would generate repeated frames during Edit to Tape operations.” The 4.0.2 update is currently only available via the Mac OS X Software Update preference pane.

Apple has released Final Cut Pro 4.0.1, an update to its professional editing software for film, HD, SD and DV. According to VersionTracker, the new version provides “performance improvements and enhancements in several key areas,” all of which can be found here. IDG World Expo today announced that the Final Cut Pro User Group (FCPUG) Network will host the third FCPUG Network Theater at Macworld CreativePro Conference & Expo, which takes place July 14-18 at New York City’s Javits Center. Located in booth #866 on the event’s expo floor July 16-18, the film theater will showcase films created by user group members as well as educational sessions.
