Daystar Technology today announced that it is shipping the XLR8 400 MAChSpeed G4 IMTL Kit (US$99). This is a low-cost  G4 CPU upgrade kit for older iMac G3 systems. The “do it yourself” upgrade allows typical users  to transform their older 233-333 MHz G3 iMac into a 400 MHz G4 based system. The upgrade  allows the iMac to perform on par with early Power Macintosh G4 systems.

Daystar Technology today announced it has added the 867 PowerBook G4 12″ to its list of PowerBook Aluminum Upgrades (US$449). The new MAChSpeed G4 CPU Upgrade allows any 12″, 867 Aluminum PowerBook to be upgraded to 1.4 GHz speeds. The upgrade doubles the size of the internal cache, and also delivers up to 60% more speed, according to the company.

Daystar Technology has expanded its XLR8 CPU upgrade line to include the value-priced MAChSpeed G4 ZIF 500/600, a 600MHz upgrade card for Power Mac G3s priced at US$199. “Combining technologies from Daystar and XLR8, the new upgrade utilizes the proven performance of the backside cache, to turbocharge its MAChSpeed G4 ZIF upgrade. The resulting upgrade delivers a 600MHz upgrade that rivals the Power Macintosh G4 ‘QuickSilver’ 733 system.

Daystar Technology today announced that it has expanded its system upgrade offerings to include the PowerBook G3 2000 series, also known as the “Pismo” PowerBook, or the PowerBook G3 FireWire. The new upgrade provides G4 performance for the last generation of the black PowerBooks, and features a low-power design that extends battery life and runs cooler than competitive offerings, says the company. Daystar Technology today announced that it has formally started shipping XLR8 MAChSpeed Control – OS 9 and MAChSpeed Control – OS X, cache enabling, protection and testing software. Working in partnership with EchoFX, Inc., Daystar has introduced new compatibility enhancements in a “ground-up” rework of the MAChSpeed Control Software. MAChSpeed Control – OS9 now ships with all new XLR8 brand products manufactured by Daystar. Any product purchased through Daystar Technology is upgraded free of charge.
