Apple today released Bluetooth Firmware Updater 1.1, which provides improvements in the update installation process, better performance when waking the computer from sleep, and support for additional key commands during startup. According to the release notes, the Bluetooth Firmware Updater is for D-Link USB Adapters (revision B2 or later), and Apple internal Bluetooth modules on PowerBooks and Power Macs.

In a head-to-head comparison of Bluetooth on Mac OS X and Windows XP, PC World senior editor Rebecca Freed concludes that the wireless technology is simply better on the Mac. “When it comes down to it, there are still too many seams showing in Bluetooth on Windows,” writes Freed. “Sure, if you’re a savvy user you can make it work. Apple today released Bluetooth 1.4.1 for Mac OS X. The update provides enhanced stability for Bluetooth connections and improves performance with human interface devices (HID) including enhancements to wake from sleep. Bluetooth 1.4.1 is available via the Software Update preference pane.

Apple today released Bluetooth Software 1.2.1, which provides enhanced stability and support for the following Symbian OS based mobile phones: Nokia 3650, Nokia 7650, and Sony Ericsson P800. Bluetooth 1.2.1, available via the Software Update preference pane, is recommended for use with iSync 1.1, which was also released today.
