AP: ‘Best Buy Tests Selling Macs at Stores’

Best buy is experimenting with selling Apple’s full line of computers, reports the Associated Press. “Best Buy has added Apple computers in seven stores and it’s considering expanding Mac sales across the chain, Best Buy Senior Vice President for Merchandising David Morrish said at the company’s annual meeting on Wednesday. Best Buy stores now selling Mac minis

Following our report earlier today on Best Buy stores planning to carry the Mac mini, several MacMinute readers note that they have already seen the low-cost computer at the retailer. “The Mac mini was available this weekend at my local Best Buy in northwest Ohio,” one reader said. “I work for Best Buy in San Luis Obispo, California, and we are already selling Mac minis,” another reader said.

Best Buy to sell Mac mini, iPod shuffle

Confirming a report from Merrill Lynch earlier today, Best Buy has quietly updated its online store with a note saying that it will sell Apple’s Mac mini at its brick-and-mortar stores across the U.S. The electronics retailer will offer both Mac mini models (1.25GHz/40GB and 1.42GHz/80GB) in its 660 stores “soon” and can be pre-ordered online now. Best Buy’s site also notes that its stores will soon begin selling Apple’s 512MB iPod shuffle–but not the 1GB iPod shuffle.
