Macworld Amazon’s annual Prime Day event is returning early this year. Instead of getting to enjoy thousands of deals in the middle of July, start saving now because this year’s event takes place this month. Amazon has announced that the massive four-day savings extravaganza will kick off before the end of June this year, only the third time in 11 years that it hasn’t launched in July. Here’s everything you need to know before the deals start dropping. Prime Day 2026: When is this year’s sale and how long will it last? Amazon’s first Prime Day of the year kicks off on June 23 and will last through June 26, about three weeks early. In fact, this is only the second time the event has taken place in June: In 2020, the pandemic pushed Prime Day to October, and in 2021, the sale was held from June 21–22. It’s unclear why Amazon has decided to shift the timing this year. Prime Day has been around since 2015, and it’s become this massive shopping event Amazon has created for Prime members. Nowadays, it’s held twice a year, in July and October, although we may very well see a permanent switch to June from here on out. Usually, we get some pretty decent discounts on Apple gear, whether we’re talking about iPads, Apple watches, MacBooks, AirPods, and so on. Of course, we always see tons of other products on sale, too, such as chargers, power banks, cables, keyboards, and so on. Prime Day 2026: What Apple gear will be on sale? Well, since Prime Day is known for delivering some of the absolute best discounts of the year, we’re expecting to see some 2026 and maybe all-time lows on Apple gear. Apple tends to update many of its products in the fall, so Prime Day is usually a great time to get big savings on AirPods, Apple Watches, MacBooks, and more. Here’s what we expect from each of Apple’s products: M5 MacBook Air: Amazon regularly discounts the MacBook Air by as much as $200, so we expect to see the $1,099 entry-level model for under $900, possibly as low as $849. M5 MacBook Pro: Like the Air, Apple’s MacBook Pro is almost always on sale at Amazon for $200-$300 off, depending on the configuration. We’ve already tracked the entry-level model for $1,499 ($200 off), and we’ll be looking for it and other higher-end configurations to drop even further during Prime Day. MacBook Neo: The MacBook Neo is cheaper at Amazon than anywhere else, but only by $9. Prime Day is a perfect opportunity for Apple to offer it for $25 or $50 off for the first time, so if you don’t need one right now, it’s not a bad idea to wait. iPad: Amazon regularly chops $50 off the entry-level iPad and $100 or more off higher-end models, so look for $150 off the iPad Air and $200 off the iPad Pro, based on previous Prime Day sales. Apple Watch: With September approaching, Amazon is going to be looking to clear out some of its remaining stock of Apple Watches. Look for $100-$120 off the Series 11 and Ultra 3, and $50-$70 off the SE 3. AirPods Pro 3: Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 are often on sale for under $200 ($50 off), but they’ve briefly been as low as $185. We expect the high-end earbuds to hit that price again over Prime Day and possibly a few dollars lower. AirPods 4: Apple’s low-end earbuds are also on sale regularly for $30 off, so look for savings of $50 or more during Prime Day, possibly even eclipsing their Black Friday low of $69 ($60 off). The same goes for the ANC model, for which we’re looking for a possible return to their all-time-low of $99. AirPods Max 2: Apple’s over-ear headphones just got a $40 discount to $509, but there’s definitely room for savings. Look out for them to drop under $500 for the first time and possibly as low as $450. Mac mini: While the Mac mini is usually a Prime Day target for $100-$150 savings, that won’t be the case. Due to memory constraints, it’s not even in stock at Amazon anymore. iPhone: Amazon doesn’t sell iPhones, but we’ll be tracking stores that do for deals, particularly from Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Many of the deals you’ll see on Prime Day will, naturally, be exclusive to Prime members. If you aren’t subscribed yet, you can get a 30-day free trial at any point. It will cost you $14.99/month or $139 for the full year once the month is over. Prime Day 2026: Best Apple deals you can get right now If you don’t want to wait around until the end of the month, there are plenty of Apple deals to enjoy right now. M5 MacBook Pro (14.2-inch, 16GB RAM, 1TB): $1,499 ($200 off) M5 MacBook Air (15-inch, 16GB RAM, 512GB): $1,149 ($150 off) iPad A16 (128GB): $299 ($50 off) M5 iPad Pro (11-inch, 256GB): $899 ($100 off) AirPods Pro 3: $199 ($50 off) Apple Magic Keyboard: $86 ($13 off) Apple Magic Mouse: $64 ($15 off)05:09 pmApple reveals Apple Design Awards app and game winners for 2026

The layout of the iPhone Fold means Apple has to come up with a way to handle portrait iOS apps on a wide screen. The iPad shows the way forward. You can put apps beside each other on the iPad. The iPhone Fold should do the same. The use of a large internal folding screen means the iPhone Fold, also referred to as the iPhone Ultra, has a squarer aspect ratio than available in previous models. That can cause problems for typical iPhone apps, displayed in full screen, as they could be visually distorted on the landscape iPhone Fold. However, according to one May 31 post on Weibo by Fixed Focus Digital, Apple has already come up with a solution. The leaker says that Apple is working on a "parallel view" for iOS to solve the problem of landscape adaption. Macworld With less than a week to go until the start of Apple’s annual WWDC get-together, an accidental leak appears to have revealed the name, or at least one of the possible names, of this year’s Mac software update. The best thing about this leak is that you can very easily check it out for yourself. (At least for now. Apple may take it down in the future.) Find a tweet using the #WWDC26 hashflag, such as the post by Andreas Storm in which he reveals this discovery, right-click the tiny Apple logo next to the hashtag text, and select Copy Image Address. Then paste it into a document, and you should see the following label: https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags/Project_Big_Bear_2026_Hashmoji_only/Project_Big_Bear_2026_Hashmoji_only.png Notice anything unusual? That’s right: it refers to something called “Project Big Bear.” Perhaps this relates to soil sampling in Ontario, Canada, or a Bristol charity. But more likely this is a glimpse of the California landmark that will be used for this year’s macOS update. Versions of macOS were once named after big cats, but in 2013, Apple, joking that it was starting to run out of suitable felines, switched to places in its home state of California. The current version, macOS 26, is named after Lake Tahoe. (We’ve got a comprehensive list of all macOS versions together with their codenames and features.) Craig Federighi traditionally spends several minutes at WWDC each year discussing the exploits of Apple’s “crack marketing team” as they travel around the state scouting out potential targets. Based on the image filename it now seems likely that macOS 27 will be named after Big Bear Lake, a lake and adjacent city in San Bernardino County. The area was named after its population of grizzly bears, but these left or died out in the early 20th century. A view of Big Bear Valley from Butler Peak.
