WebSiphon Enterprise Edition offers Scalability, Extends Web
Development Environment

(Austin, TX; January 5th, 1999) – Purity Software announced WebSiphon
Enterprise Edition at the MacWorld Expo ’99 today, an enhanced and
extended version of the company’s premiere web development
environment. Using WebSiphon Enterprise, developers can easily
connect to ODBC-compliant data sources when developing applications
for deployment on the web or as part of a corporate intranet. With
this release of WebSiphon, the environment now offers unsurpassed
database capabilities ranging from the low-end flat-file Verona
database server (included as a standard component of the WebSiphon
package) to large-scale enterprise database servers. Interested users
are encouraged to visit Purity Software’s booth in the Net Innovators
pavilion (booth 3550; North Hall at MacWorld Expo).

WebSiphon Enterprise has been developed to target the needs of new
and advanced users alike. Those who have previous experience with SQL
syntax can issue statements to the database server directly, whereas
less experienced users have a variety of functions available to
communicate with ODBC data sources.

“We are pleased to offer such a versatile tool as WebSiphon into the
Macintosh server market, and now with an enterprise version of the
software, administrators have a fully scalable web application
development environment in their arsenal.” said Nathan Nunn,
President of Purity Software, “Ever since the first version of
WebSiphon shipped we have dedicated ourselves to providing the
best tool on the market, and with this release we continue to satisfy
that goal.”

Aside from communication with ODBC data sources using the
industry-standard SQL language, WebSiphon Enterprise supports
round-robin connection management to any number of different data
sources and is compatible for use with any database server available
through the Visigenics or Intersolv ODBC drivers.

About WebSiphon

The WebSiphon environment originally became available in 1996, and
has enjoyed a reputation as one of the most powerful and flexible web
server products available. Rather than using a tag-based approach to
web development, like HTML, the product’s SiphonScript scripting
language makes it easy for novice and experienced users alike to
create exceptionally powerful applications. The features offered by
the WebSiphon package appeals to both new system administrators with
little or no previous development experience and programmers fluent
in C++.

Pricing and Availability

WebSiphon Enterprise is available in two different versions: a
complete bundle package including the development environment itself
priced at $1499; and as an add-on library available for use by
existing WebSiphon owners for $1099.

A fully-functional demonstration version of the WebSiphon environment
is available from the Purity Software web site at
http://www.purity.com/websiphon/. To order, visit the Purity online
store at http://store.purity.com/ as well as through authorized
distributors worldwide.

Support

As with all Purity Software packages, support for WebSiphon
Enterprise is free for the first 30 days covering installation and
configuration issues. Outside of this free period support packages
are available either on yearly, quarterly, or per-incident basis.
Owners who purchase a support package will receive free updates to
the software for the duration of their support term.

System Requirements

WebSiphon Enterprise requires Mac OS 7.6.1 or later, 3MB of RAM for
the WebSiphon environment, and 1MB of RAM for the ODBC connection
management library. Additional RAM and system requirements may be
required for specific ODBC drivers. The ODBC enterprise add-on
requires WebSiphon v1.5.1 or later. The package is fully compatible
with any web server supporting the ACGI add-ons or the W*API v1.2
standard, including WebSTAR from StarNine Technologies, AppleShare IP
from Apple Computer, and WebTen from Tenon.
