Power On Software Purchases DiskLock Utility from Symantec Corporation

Acquisition Locks Up Mac Security Market for Power On

Minneapolis - April 27, 1999 -- Power On Software announced today
that it had acquired the acclaimed Symantec security utility,
"DiskLock" for Macintosh. Norton DiskLock has set the standard for
Macintosh data security for the past ten years and offers users
virtually unbeatable security with its one click file locking and
encryption.

In announcing the sale to Power On, Symantec spokesperson Enrique
Salem, Vice President of Security and Assistance noted that "DiskLock
has been an exceptional product for Symantec, with many loyal and
dedicated customers. Within the past year and a half, we have
streamlined our Macintosh product line. This will enable us to
continue to deliver the highest quality System Utility and Antivirus
products for Macintosh.

Power On has extensive experience in security software. Its "On
Guard" for Macintosh has 1 million users and a Windows version is
currently in preview release. "By adding DiskLock to our offerings,
we now provide the most extensive set of security options on the
Macintosh," said John Wallace, President of Power On Software. "We
recognize the growing importance of data security to our customers
and are delighted to be able to add the extra levels of security that
DiskLock's encryption provides." Salem added, "Power On is uniquely
suited to build on the success of DiskLock, with its clear commitment
to products that protect user data. Symantec strives to provide it's
customers with the best products and support and we believe that
Power On will do a superb job of continuing the high level of service
our customers have come to expect."

The product, formerly known as Norton DiskLock, will be marketed as
DiskLock and will be available through Macwarehouse, MacZone, Club
Mac, and dealers and distributors worldwide. In addition, the product
will be available from many existing Symantec dealers, and special
stock balancing options will enable dealers to obtain new inventory
under a joint offer from Symantec and Power On. The estimated retail
price of DiskLock is $89.95, and special pricing will be available to
current Power On or Symantec customers. Upgrades to the new version,
DiskLock 4.5 will cost $49.95 and site license pricing is available.
