DENVER, CO — October 1, 1998 — Denver based Micro Planning International
(MPI) today shipped their powerful new project management software: Micro
Planner X-Pert for Macintosh Version 2.5 and Micro Planner Manager for
Macintosh Version 1.5. The latest releases offer added features and
enhancements, helping users become more productive, reducing their project
management maintenance time, and improving the decision making process.
Among the features that have been incorporated into the releases of Micro
Planner X-Pert and Micro Planner Manager are AppleScript support, group
resources and location function, a “cross out when complete” feature and
cross-platform “file open” compatibility. Micro Planning has not abandoned
Mac based project managers unlike other vendors who have ceased or
discontinued their efforts. MPI specializes in the high technology business
sector where the pressure to shorten the product development cycle is
intense. Micro Planner Manager is typically used at the project level,
while X-Pert is used at higher levels in an organization for consolidating
and managing many projects. Like its Windows and UNIX counterparts, Micro
Planner X-Pert for Macintosh retails for $1995. Micro Planner Manager for
Macintosh retails for $695. For more information, call (800) 852-PLAN
(7526).

Micro Planning International is pleased to announce the release of the new
Macintosh versions of Micro Planner X-Pert (v2.5) and Micro Planner Manager
(v1.5).

Among the enhancements to the Macintosh releases are:

AppleScript

AppleScript is now supported. The combination of standard scripting
technology and Micro Planner revolutionizes project communication and
control. The potential, power, and ramifications of using these two forces
together lead to increased chances for success and opens up new
possibilities in a variety of ways: Internet/Intranet technology can be
used to: post reports on web pages; send in remote updates; and send memos
containing project information. Users of Micro Planner for Windows can also
share this benefit. The requirement: a MacOS server. Team members can work
together to isolate problem areas or resolve critical issues regardless of
their location. Information generated by Micro Planner can be easily
transferred to other applications such as accounting systems or databases
making Micro Planner an invaluable business tool.

Cross Out When Complete

This feature allows for the quick and easy viewing of task progress in the
Network Diagram. This feature draws a single diagonal line through a task
once it has started and crosses the box out (two diagonal lines) if it has
been finished. This visual representation of task progress allows team
members and executives to get an instant idea of the general condition of
the project plan and is a great time saver when reviewing the status of
numerous projects.

Group Resources and “Location”

You may now use “location” to influence which resource is chosen from a
group during resource analysis. If you do not use this feature, the
behavior of Group Resources is unchanged, but if you enable the feature,
resource analysis considers availability then location then efficiency when
allocating a resource from a Group. Simply stated, location overrides the
efficiency rating of the resource.

Tutorial

A new “Quickstart Tutorial”, provided in html format, has been included in
this release. New users or occasional users will find the tutorial
extremely valuable in helping them get started or to simply use it as a
refresher course. The tutorial is designed for specific topic assistance
allowing you to go directly to the area(s) you need tutelage in. The guide
does require a web browser to view it.

File Open Compatible Mac and Windows Versions

The new release offers companies in mixed environments to take full
advantage of the strengths of Micro Planner whether project members use
Macintosh or Windows machines.

MPXv4 Support

Micro Planner can now read Microsoft Project 98 files saved in the “mpx”
format. This means regardless of what version of Microsoft Project others
are using, you may take their project files and open them in Micro Planner
to take advantage of MPI’s more sophisticated resourcing and project
analysis capabilities.

Upgrades

Upgrades to the latest versions are available to non-supported users for
$595 (X-Pert) and $249 (Manager). Micro Planning also offers competitive
upgrades from other project management software tools (Microsoft Project,
Project Scheduler, MacProject, or other similar packages) to Micro Planner
X-Pert for $1,400 and to Micro Planner Manager for $295.

An Enterprise-Wide Solution

MICRO PLANNER can be used independently or can be combined to provide a
total enterprise-wide solution. MICRO PLANNER Manager is ideal at the
project level, while X-Pert is designed for use at higher levels in the
organization for consolidating and managing many projects or subprojects.

MICRO PLANNER also accommodates the multi-platform hardware needs of an
organization by offering complete file open compatibility between their
Macintosh, UNIX, and Windows versions.
