Macromedia Announces Attain Objects For Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver 2 and Macintosh Support Combines with Special
Introductory Pricing to Broaden Tools Market for Creating Interactive
Web-Based Learning Content

Redwood Shores, Calif.- June 17, 1999 – The Interactive Learning
Division of Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR) today announced Attain
Objects for Dreamweaver, a powerful extension application for
Dreamweaver designed for creating Web-based learning content and
complex Web interactions. The second generation of Macromedia’s
award-winning Dreamweaver Attain product, Attain Objects for
Dreamweaver now supports the Macintosh(R) platform and is fully
compatible with Dreamweaver 2.

Attain Objects for Dreamweaver is part of Macromedia’s Attain
Enterprise Learning System, which includes Macromedia’s Authorware 5
Attain and Pathware 4 software.

“Now Dreamweaver developers can quickly create learning content for a
broad range of Web sites.” said Ian Richmond, president of
Macromedia’s Interactive Learning Division. “Because Attain Objects
for Dreamweaver is 100 percent Web-native, it enables cross-platform
and cross-browser delivery without plug-ins or Java Applets, making
deployment as easy as launching a browser.”

Attain Objects for Dreamweaver provides developers with a set of
easy-to-use templates for creating Web-based learning and complex
interactions that would otherwise be difficult and time consuming to
build. The new release is designed for a rapidly growing community of
Web developers: performance-oriented training managers and
developers; schools and educators who use the Web for online
learning; and the rapidly expanding base of commercial Web designers,
developers, and programmers who use Dreamweaver to create interactive
forms, applications and other content for e-commerce and
corporate intranets.

The new release is compatible with Dreamweaver 2, Macromedia’s
award-winning software for professional Web site design. Attain
Objects for Dreamweaver also extends support beyond Windows(R) based
PCs to the Macintosh platform, enabling developers and educators to
design and create Web-based learning content on Mac systems.

Featuring intuitive templates to streamline development, Attain
Objects for Dreamweaver builds on the core features of Dreamweaver
Attain, the original Dreamweaver learning extension that captured
NewMedia’s 1999 Hyper Award for Best Online Learning Product. The new
release’s mature feature set includes:

Attain Objects, a visual library of common learning interactions, such as
multiple-choice questions, drag-and-drop, and text-entry, that can be
created, edited, customized, saved, and reused using simple templates.
Authors can choose from a library of interaction types in the Object
Gallery or add their own custom interactions using the new Save to Gallery
feature.
Action Manager, a visual interface for creating engaging interactivity
for the Web. The Action Manager provides powerful branching, logic-based
control, and feedback mechanisms to help authors build compelling
interactivity into their Web content, without scripting – saving hours of
time over hand-coding.
Knowledge Track, built-in data tracking which allows developers to easily
track student progress and results. With one-button simplicity, Knowledge
Track automatically tracks results back to Pathware 4, Macromedia’s
enterprise learning management system. Developers can also create custom
tracking framesets to track data to other back-end management systems.
Dreamweaver 2 Compatibility. Attain Objects for Dreamweaver is built on
and leverages the features and functionality of Dreamweaver 2 including
visual authoring, site-wide management and editing, and Roundtrip HTML(TM).

Attain Objects for Dreamweaver can also integrate media-rich content
from Authorware 5 Attain with the Authorware Web Player. Authorware 5
Attain is the most sophisticated authoring environment that allows
professional training developers to create highly realistic and
interactive learning applications.
