Power On Provides Palm OS Support in
New Release of Now Up-to-Date & Contact

Extensive Synchronization Options Added for Palm and Visor

Columbus, Ohio — March 29, 2000 — Power On Software announced today that
it had completed development of its forthcoming release of Now Up-to-Date &
Contact. Version 3.9 adds support for handheld computing devices based
upon Palm Computing’s Palm OS. The new release offers seamless integration
of the best-selling Macintosh contact management and calendaring
application in history with the handheld computing devices based on the
Palm OS.

World Debut Scheduled for Macintosh Business Expo

The product will make its worldwide debut in Portland, Oregon on April 5th
at a special reception to be held at the Macintosh Business Expo, presented
by Apple Computer, Inc. and The Computer Store. Effective immediately,
Power On will be accepting orders for shipments to commence on April 6th.

Wide Range of Palm OS Integration and Feature Support

The new release will offer support for Palm handheld computers and Palm OS
compatible units such as the Handspring Visor. Now Up-to-Date &
Contact’s “conduits” provide customized synchronization by allowing the
user to select which categories of events, to-do lists, and contacts will
be synchronized with the handheld computer. In addition, Now Up-to-Date &
Contact includes support for group (or shared) events and contacts. With
additional support for DateBook+ and DateB3, Power On has created the
ultimate integration between desktop and handheld computers.

The new release provides a rich set of tools for integrating Now Up-to-Date
& Contact with the Palm handheld computers and Handspring Visor products.
Users can choose to synchronize categories, and public categories can be
marked and easily differentiated. The software supports hidden events,
banners, and attached documents. There is also integration with DateBook+
and DateBk 3 categories. In addition, users can choose to synchronize a
range of dates or just certain priorities. The software handles hidden
events by mapping them to Palm’s secret events. A special A.I. routine
tracks repeating events in Now Up-to-Date and properly maps them to the
Palm’s repeating events. Users will also love the intelligent mapping
features between Now Contact and the handheld device.

Power On Fulfills Development Pledge

The new release will complete Power On’s promised phase two of its
development plans for the #1 best-selling Macintosh calendar and contact
management software. “When we purchased Now Up-to-Date & Contact from
Qualcomm, we set some very specific goals for updating the software”, said
John Wallace, President of Power On. “We successfully completed phase 1
with the shipment of a release that provided compatibility with Mac OS 9,
while maintaining backward compatibility to System 7.5 and support for the
new G3 and G4 hardware, as well as the installed base of 68K machines.
Updating the software to provide reliability was our primary goal in this
first phase of development. Phase 2 entailed the integration of the desktop
with the burgeoning Palm OS handheld market, and further enhancing Now
Up-to-Date & Contact’s distinctive status as the only “Internet Savvy” PIM,
while making it the best Palm compatible PIM, too! Following this release,
Power On is focusing on adding a compelling set of new features that will
further increase our dominance of the Macintosh PIM market.”
