Harlequin(R) WebMaker(tm) 3.0 Now Shipping

CAMBRIDGE, MA — June 26, 1997 (INB) — Global software developer
Harlequin has made available WebMaker 3.0, the latest version of its $99
FrameMaker-to-HTML conversion tool. WebMaker automatically converts
FrameMaker(R) documents into HTML, allowing authors to simultaneously
publish both printed versions and online versions of their FrameMaker
documents. WebMaker may downloaded and purchased from the Harlequin Web
site at http://www.harlequin.com/.

WebMaker 3.0, a major upgrade to the acclaimed WebMaker software package,
features a number of enhancements including a new wizard interface and
support for Cascading Style Sheets.

“With Cascading Style Sheets, WebMaker allows authors to take Web
publishing to the next level. Harlequin is committed to providing its
customers with the latest Web publishing technology,” said Neil Epstein,
product manager for Harlequin.

Redesigned User Interface

WebMaker’s redesigned user interface offers improved ease-of-use and
ensures that new users quickly become productive. WebMaker’s new wizard
interface guides users step-by-step through the process of converting a
document to HTML. Within minutes, authors are on their way to publishing
HTML documents.

Cascading Style Sheets

With its new Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) capability, WebMaker 3.0 is now
able to retain even more of a document’s look and feel when converting to
HTML. CSS, recommended as a standard by the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C), allows authors to customize the fonts, colors, margins, and other
layout aspects of their HTML documents. WebMaker 3.0 automatically
generates CSS style sheets from FrameMaker formats. As a W3C member,
Harlequin has worked closely with the W3C to ensure that WebMaker
customers receive leading-edge CSS technology.

“CSS is about to change the look and feel of the Web. HTML converters such
as WebMaker that support CSS are able to preserve the document’s visual
integrity. Using WebMaker, authors can now easily benefit from CSS,” said
the W3C’s Hkon Lie, co-architect of the CSS specification.

Array of New Features

WebMaker 3.0 includes an array of new features, confirming its position as
the most powerful FrameMaker-to-HTML conversion tool. In addition to its
redesigned user interface and CSS capability, WebMaker 3.0 also includes:

HTML 3.2 support
Improved table conversion
Conversion of FrameMaker hypertext markers
Conversion of character format overrides
Enhanced batch mode

WebMaker is available for all standard publishing platforms —
Windows(TM), Macintosh(TM), and UNIX(TM). WebMaker 3.0, which includes
comprehensive documentation, may be purchased for $99 directly from
