Registered StuffIt Deluxe 4.0 Users Who Have Purchased StuffIt Deluxe After
July 26, 1997, Qualify For Free StuffIt 4.5 Upgrade
Watsonville, CA – August 27, 1997 – Aladdin Systems today announced that
StuffIt Deluxe 4.0 registered users (who purchased 4.0 after July 26,
1997) will be able to upgrade to version 4.5 for free (plus shipping fee).
Significant enhancements of StuffIt Deluxe 4.5 will include Mac OS 8
(Tempo) compatibility, support for more expansion formats like MIME/Base64,
encrypted ZIP, and LHA expansion, additional email program support and
Private File encrypted file support.
StuffIt Deluxe works in the Finder at a lower level than most applications,
and a lot has changed in the OS 8 Finder. Currently, the StuffIt Deluxe 4.0
core functionality is compatible, but the package contains three
incompatible elements: StuffIt Browser, StuffIt SpaceSaver, and Magic
Menu. These components will be compatible with OS 8 in StuffIt Deluxe 4.5.
Aladdin expects to release StuffIt Deluxe 4.5 within the next 90 days.

Availability and Pricing
Aladdin is extending a special upgrade offer to registered users of StuffIt
Deluxe 4.0 (purchased after July 26, 1997) to upgrade to 4.5 for free. New
owners of StuffIt Deluxe 4.0 will be able to order the 4.5 upgrade for free
(plus $9.95 shipping) from Aladdin with proof of purchase. Otherwise, any
registered StuffIt Deluxe owner (any version) will be offered StuffIt
Deluxe 4.5 for $29.95 plus applicable tax and shipping. All offers are the
same for international customers except the shipping fee (US $19.95). This
