Software announcements for November 2-6

Here are some of the latest software announcements.

° MacPaw has announced the launch of Email Cleanup and Browser Care, two new features for CleanMyMac designed to help users tackle digital clutter throughout their workday.

The new features help users clear unwanted emails, free up shared Google storage and manage memory-heavy browser tabs. Together with its existing Mac care tools, CleanMyMac is designed to help users spend less time managing their digital tools and more time focused on their work. Email Cleanup and Browser Care is at no additional cost for users with an active CleanMyMac subscription.

°  Parallels, which specializes cross-platform and virtualization solutions, has announced a new app-centric experience for Parallels Desktop for Mac Enterprise Edition that helps organizations address one of the persistent challenges of expanding Mac adoption: giving employees access to the Windows applications they still need.

It gives IT teams a streamlined way to deliver supported Windows applications directly to Mac users through their existing Mac device management (MDM) workflows. Parallels Desktop for Mac Enterprise Edition can be purchased or upgraded at  www.parallels.com/products/desktop/enterprise/ or through authorized resellers worldwide.

° Iruka is a file manager for Mac users who find Finder too limited. Its terminal follows whatever folder you’re browsing. It also has dual-pane browsing, git status and diffs, Markdown and CSV previews, batch rename, and SSH, NAS and cloud mounts.

° LightScroll is a new iOS and macOS screen time app inspired by what its developers wished Apple’s Screen Time did. They wanted to make it just a tiny bit harder to open Instagram/X/etc without thinking.

With LightScroll, you can take a short pause or play a small minigame, choose how long you’d like to spend, and have access blocked again when that time is up. If you want a firmer daily limit, you can even require a code from an accountability partner to exceed it.

° Sensonym is a new iPhone and Android app for adults learning languages through interactive stories. For example, in a bakery mystery, you blow towards the phone to cool a loaf and uncover heiß (hot), then wipe the on-screen counter to reveal putzen (to clean). Discovering the word comes through doing something in the scene.

° Readdle’s PDF Expert, Spark, Documents, Calendars, and Scanner Pro are all ready for iPhone Duo, optimized for the new form factor. Here’s a short video of the apps in action: Readdle apps on iPhone Duo.

° Binge, a native movie and TV companion across Apple devices, now offers an Apple Wallet pass displaying watched and watchlist information, including the last watched title. The app itself combines movie watchlists, TV episode progress, streaming availability, ratings and cast details, so people can choose their next watch and remember where they left off. Binge is free to download with optional Pro purchases,

° Kilobat brings Mac networking into one place.

It shows per-app traffic, helps manage hotspot data, diagnoses connections and keeps the Mac awake while downloads or AI agents work. There’s a menu bar app for people and an open-source CLI and MCP server for agents.

° MacZentra, a native storage analyzer and cleaner for Apple silicon Macs (running macOS 13 or later) from a two-person indie team, has been updated to version 1.1.3. Features include: Treemap, Sunburst and Tree views of the disk; Junk, Duplicates, Similar Media and Photos library duplicates; System Data and APFS snapshots; Developer Junk (Xcode DerivedData, simulator caches, node_modules, Docker.raw); an Uninstaller and an App Updater. Removed files go to the Trash.

The 1.1.3 update fixes Arabic right-to-left labels in the Treemap, plus scanner and updater fixes. The app is available in 12 languages. Scanning is free; cleaning is a one-time $49.99 with no subscription.

° Sandbar, a Pomodoro timer, has been upgraded. With the app, every focus session grows a small low-poly 3D island in a glass cylinder. If you stop early, nothing wilts or dies; the island simply waits. Version 1.1 adds iPad (Split View, Stage Manager), Macs with Apple silicon and four new worlds.

° Vivaldi Technologies has released Vivaldi 8.3 for the Mac.The headline of the release is a rebuilt Ad and Tracker Blocker that lets users decide how much of the web gets through, for the whole web or for individual sites. The update also brings new features for Vivaldi’s vertical tabs, faster Reader Mode, and the ability to open a whole list of links at once.

° BirdFrame is a new Mac app for people with lots of bird photos. It works on a whole Apple Photos album, as a reversible edit, or a folder of JPEG, HEIC or RAW files, finds the birds in one go, even distant or half-hidden ones, and crops each from the full-size original in the framing you pick. It’s free for 50 photos per run, then $29.99 once; nothing is uploaded.

° The developers of Draw Things have launched Local Code, an open-source AI assistant that lets Mac users download models and put them to work on their own computers.

° Filmmaker Rian Johnson, best known for writing and directing “Knives Out,” “Glass Onion,” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” has launched a new iPhone photography app Chromagraph Camera.

° Canva has released Affinity for iPad, bringing its free all-in-one design app to Apple’s tablet, along with a new Sketch Studio built for touch and Apple Pencil.

° Appy Pie has announced its Agentic AI App Builder, bringing four specialized AI agents together to plan, design, build and test iOS and Android apps. Users describe what they want, approve a development plan and refine their app through conversation, with backend services, a database, user accounts and hosting included.

° Zoom has been updated with iPhone Duo optimization.
