Apple reportedly allocated 80% of its initiation iPhone Duo inventory to its retail stores

Apple allocated roughly 80% of its initial iPhone Duo inventory to its retail stores, with locations holding as few as 50 units each, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest Power On podcast.

He adds that the tech giant’s flagship stores were said to have held up to around 250 units. The inventory split helps explain why pre-orders slipped to late January within minutes on October 16, while most people who queued on launch day walked away with a new phone, notes MacRumors.

On a brighter note, even as shipping times remain long, Bloomberg reports that Foxconn has been saying it can meet any firm’s demand without specifically mentioning the iPhone Duo.

“We have over 240 sites in 24 countries all over the world,” said Michael Chiang, CEO of Foxconn’s parent company, Hon Hai, “which enable us to have a timely supply to our customers’ demand whenever they need. So I’m quite confident that we can fulfill the demand.”
