Apple TV’s ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ may take a new direction in a third season

Apple TV and Legendary Television are in renewal talks for a third season for “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” that would take the show in a new direction, featuring new Titans from Legendary’s Monsterverse, according to Deadline.

The article says a search is underway for new writers and showrunner who will take over from the series’ first two seasons’ creative team, led by showrunner/executive producer Chris Black who co-created Monarch with Season 1 executive producer Matt Fraction.

The Monsterverse is an American multimedia franchise and shared universe featuring Godzilla and King Kong, as well as characters by Toho Co., Ltd and original characters. The franchise consists of five films and Apple TV’s two television series produced by Legendary, with Warner Bros.

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is executive produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character. Season 2 was also executive produced by Chris Black, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling, and Andrew Colville.
