Apple unveils a touchscreen MacBook Pro (not ‘MacBook Ultra’) with a PROLED XDR Display

As anticipated, Apple has introduced an MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, featuring tandem OLED technology that “delivers game-changing front-of-screen performance,” said Johny Srouji, Apple’s chief hardware officer.

And, nope, contrary to popular rumors, it’s not dubbed the “MacBook Ultra.” It’s available in 14- and 16-inch models. The PROLED XDR Display serves up to 2000 nits peak HDR and SDR brightness. Srouji said this is an industry-leading 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio for exceptional detail, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and a wider color gamut covering both P3 and Adobe RGB for brilliant colors.

The new MacBook Pro also introduces  Touch capabilities on the Mac for the first time. What’s more, tThe Dynamic Island now comes to Mac, serving as the home for Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI.

Apple says the  MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display has up to 24 hours of battery life in thinner and lighter 3- and 4-pound designs. The laptop is available with M5 Pro or M5 Max processors, along with up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 16TB of storage.

Srouji said an enhanced six-speaker sound system now provides 50% deeper bass and remarkable sound clarity for more immersive audio. The laptop also supports Thunderbolt 5 and a wide array of connectivity, a 12MP Center Stage camera, studio-and quality mics.
