Apple is expanding GymKit support to the iPhone and AirPods Pro 3 with iOS 27, extending the gym equipment connectivity feature beyond Apple Watch for the first time, notes MacRumors.
Apple GymKit is an Apple technology that lets you sync your Apple devices with compatible cardio machines (like treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes). By tapping your device to the machine, you get two-way data sharing—transmitting heart rate data to the machine while receiving exact pace, distance, and calorie tracking on your Apple Health app.
When you finish your workout, your data is saved to your Apple device. Apple says your personal information is then cleared from the public gym equipment.
