Apple will donate to relief efforts for fire that devastated a high-rise apartment in Hong Kong

Apple CEO Tim Cook has pledged the tech company will donate to relief efforts after a deadly fire devastated a high-rise apartment complex in Hong Kong.

“Heartbroken by the devastating fire in Hong Kong. Everyone affected is in our thoughts and we are thankful for the first responders,” he said in an X post. “Apple is donating to relief efforts on the ground.”

As I was writing this article, the death toll of the fire was 128 — and climbing and expected to reach 150. Authorities have arrested 11 people in connection with the city’s worst blaze in nearly 80 years as they investigate possible corruption and the use of unsafe materials during renovations at the Wang Fuk Court complex, reports Reuters.
