° From Deadline: Disney + Basic, a cheaper version of the 3-year-old streaming service, has officially gone live. Today’s launch of the $8-a-month offering marks a turning point in the larger streaming race, leaving Apple TV+ — for now — as the only major player without commercial interruptions. 

° From AppleInsider: Union members from the newly-organized Apple Store in Maryland have set dates for formal negotiations with Apple management, covering employee benefits, pay scales, and more.

° From MacRumors: Following the launch of iOS 16.1.2 on November 30, Apple has stopped signing iOS 16.1.1 and iOS 16.1, two previously available versions of iOS.. With iOS 16.1 and iOS 16.1.1 no longer being signed, it is not possible to downgrade to those versions of iOS after upgrading to iOS 16.1.2.

° From The Information: Twitter plans to charge $11 per month for a Twitter Blue subscription on the iPhone in order to account for the 30 percent cut that Apple takes from in-app purchases.

° From Macworld: Google is making a more compelling case for Chrome on the Mac with two new features that make it more efficient with battery and memory usage. Energy Saver and Memory Saver.

° From iMore: Apple TV Plus has shared a Spirited featurette in which we see stars Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell learn to tap dance.

° From Macworld Live!: On the new episode, Chuck Joiner, Eric Bolden, David Ginsburg, Jim Rea, Mark Fuccio, Web Bixby, and Jeff Gamet finish off an intense discussion of Alexa, Siri, and their expectations for voice assistant performance. (Part 2)
