U.S. consumers expect to spend almost four hours in the met averse in five years

A recent McKinsey study surveyed 1,000+ consumers on their expectations on the transition from laptop and smartphones to wearable devices for VR and AR.

The survey found that Gen Z, millennials, and Gen X consumers expect to spend between four and five hours a day in the metaverse over the next five years. Comparatively, a recent Nielsen study found that consumers spend roughly five hours a day watching TV across various platforms

“The metaverse is coming and it is going to change the way we work, live and communicate,” said Rolf Illenberger, the founder and managing director of VRdirect, a virtual reality platform. “What we don’t know is whether it will be a B2B focused, or B2C focused metaverse, where that line will eventually be, or who will own it.”
