As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve always had an appreciation for fine wood, which is why I’m a big fan of the products from Grovemade, a designer of handcrafted wooden and leather accessories.
They’re luxury items, not necessities. However, Grovemade’s products are gorgeous works of wood and certainly class up a Mac user’s working environment. One of those is the new Grovemade Desk Shelf , which provides an ergonomic lift and multiple sizes to fit a variety of devices and screens.
It’s a very classy desk shelf that’s crafted from 15-ply premium hardwood plywood, aluminum, and natural cork hand stained with Japanese calligraphy ink. It supports monitors and computers such as iMacs up to 50 pounds.
The Grovemade Desk Shelf also offer a convenient, integrated shelf, for storing pens, books, trays, notebooks, AirPods, etc. And it has a curved back to prevent things from falling off.
However, you can’t adjust its height, which will pose a problem for some users. The Grovemade Desk Shelf is great with my 24-inch iMac. However, when used with my Apple Studio Display, it elevated the monitor slightly too much.
When using your computer display, you should adjust the monitor height so that the top of the screen is at—or slightly below—eye level. Your eyes should look slightly downward when viewing the middle of the screen. Also, position the monitor at least 20 inches (51 cm) from your eyes—about an arm’s length distance. If your screen is larger, add more viewing distance.
It’s impossible to do that with the Grovemade Desk Shelf. The product is also pricey at US$380 for the large model, $300 for the medium size, and $190 for the smaller one.
If you want an elegant, hand-crafted desk stand/shelf for use with not-too-big computers are display, the Grovemade Desk Shelf is as classy as such products get.
