CalDigit (www.caldigitcom) has announced the T8, a Thunderbolt 3 RAID storage solution with 8-bays featuring capacities up to 48TB. It supports both 3.5-inch HDDs and 2.5-inch SSDs.

The dual Thunderbolt 3 ports offer up to 40Gb/s bandwidth and allow users to integrate a professional Thunderbolt 3 workflow. As the T8 features dual Type-C ports, users have the ability to use the T8 on USB 3.1 Type-C computers for added flexibility.

It also features a full size DisplayPort connector on the back of the unit. This allows users the ability to connect a 4K 60Hz monitor to their storage device in order to simplify their workflow. The T8 features speeds of up to 1440MB/s and includes two fans for keeping the drives at a cool operating temperature.

The T8 can be formatted to RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and JBOD. For users who need the best performance the T8 can be used in RAID 0, and for users who need outstanding protection for their files RAID 6 provides dual drive redundancy.

The pricing for the T8 hasn’t been announced. It will be available in late 2016.
