It’s official. Apple will hold a media event on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 10 am (Pacific), at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The media invitation came with the teaser: “Hey Siri, give us a hint.”

Apple will almost certainly announce new iPhones. Speculation also calls for the unveiling of the next generation Apple TV and perhaps new iPads.

What’s a bit unusual about the event is that it’s being held in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium instead of the Yerba Buena Center or Cupertino’s Flint Center. Apparently, Apple is expecting a big presence as the Civic Auditorium seats 7,000 compared to 1,500 for the Yerba Center and 2,400 for the Flint Center.
