If two (and counting) movies/documentaries and various books weren’t enough, now there’s an opera in the works based on the life of the late Steve Jobs.

The Santa Fe Opera announced Wednesday that “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs,” by composer Mason Bates and librettist Mark Campbell, is scheduled to debut in 2017. The work is a Santa Fe Opera commission, reports the Los Angeles Times (http://tinyurl.com/nz2tyny).

The opera will explore Jobs’ complicated professional and personal lives. It will include characters based on Jobs’ father, Paul, and his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs. The opera will also delve into “the touchy area of his relationship with a woman whose child he initially disowned,” according to the L.A. Times.

The Santa Fe Opera said “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” will receive its first workshop in San Francisco in September in collaboration with Cal Performances at UC Berkeley, and with additional support from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
