Flexibits has introduced Fantastical 2 (http://flexibits.com/fantastical), an update of the OS X calendar app.

Designed exclusively for OS X Yosemite, Fantastical 2 for Mac includes features such as a full calendar window (with day, week, month, and year views), an intuitive parsing engine, iCloud reminders support, light theme, time zone support, birthday reminders, and more. The upgrade sports a new design and includes OS X Yosemite features, including a Today Widget, Action & Share Extensions, plus Handoff support to provide continuity between Fantastical 2 for Mac, Fantastical 2 for iPhone, and Fantastical 2 for iPad.

iCloud Reminders are even better as users can now see their events and dated reminders together in the main list. Reminders can be quickly created by starting sentences with “reminder”, “todo”, “task”, or “remind me to.” Users can also add dates, times, and location-based geofences (when I arrive/when I leave) to their reminders.

Fantastical 2 for Mac’s natural language parsing engine has been updated to be even more friendly and flexible. The parsing engine now understands expressive repeating events such as third Thursday of every month, every weekend, last weekday of the month, and more. Plus, users can now add alerts by ending their natural language input with phrases such as “remind me tomorrow at 3PM”, “alert 1 hour before”, or “alarm 3PM.”

Calendar sets let you quickly manage calendars and reminder lists. They consist of visible and hidden calendars, allowing you to toggle multiple calendars and reminder lists on and off with a click or a keystroke. Location-based calendar sets will automatically switch to a specific calendar set when the user arrives or leaves a specified location.

Fantastical 2’s native CalDAV engine lets user connect their Mac directly to their calendar services such as iCloud, Google, and Yahoo. Fantastical 2 for Mac users can create, view, and search all of their events and reminders. The advanced natural language engine enables users to enter event or reminder details in their own style.

For example, users can enter sentences such as “Lunch with John at 123 Main Street on Tuesday” and Fantastical 2 for Mac translates the sentence into an event and adds it to their calendar. And with support for reminders, users can enter sentences such as “todo Pick up dry cleaning on Friday” and the user will have a dated reminder, ready to check off when the time is right.

Fantastical 2 for Mac is available now for a limited-time launch sale price of US$39.99 from Apple’s Mac App Store or directly from the Flexibits Store. The standard price will be $49.99. Fantastical requires OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later.
