Nikolas Konstantakopoulos from Granny’s Audio has announced metroKit (http://tinyurl.com/q2l26k9), a flexible metronome for Mac OS X.

Equipped with speed, rhythm trainers and fully customizable beats and accents, the app can help even the most demanding musicians boost their skills, according to Konstantakopoulos. With custom accents, metroKit — which costs approximately US$3.42 — can help you practice paradiddles as well as strumming patterns for the stringed musicians. You can save and recall your settings, and start from where you stopped.

You can use the speed trainer to progressively increase the speed when practicing difficult exercises or riffs. Set the starting and target tempo, how much and after how many bars to increase the speed. When the target tempo is reached you can set metroKit to stop, or continue playing at that tempo.

Konstantakopoulos says you can master the precision of every rhythm you want with the metroKit’s rhythm trainer. See how steady your playing is by muting some bars. With the rhythm trainer feature, you can set metroKit to mute for X bars every Y bars, forcing you to master your precision while playing.
