Elgato introduces Thunderbolt 2 Dock with 4K video

Elgato (www.elgato.com) has introduced the Thunderbolt 2 Dock. Featuring 20 Gb/s bandwidth and support for HDMI displays with up to 4K resolution, it provides a leap in performance over the first generation of Thunderbolt docks.

What’s more, Elgato Thunderbolt 2 Dock offers an improved, amplified audio output as well as stand-alone USB charging. It comes in an aluminum enclosure designed to complement the silver design of Apple’s Mac notebooks. It offers two Thunderbolt 2 ports, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, amplified Audio out and microphone in.

The Elgato Thunderbolt 2 Dock has a suggested retail price of US$229.95 and includes an Elgato Thunderbolt Cable. There’s a free Elgato Thunderbolt Dock Utility that installs a Status Menu that lets you eject all storage devices at once.The software also enables high-power USB support so your Dock’s USB ports will charge any iPad and iPhone, enable you to use your Apple SuperDrive, or connect additional bus-powered devices to your Apple Keyboard.
