D-Link now shipping 802.11ac unified wireless access point

D-Link has announced the DWL-8610AP (www.dlink.com/dwl-8610ap), a high power, 802.11ac unified wireless access point. Sporting advanced radio management and security features, the DWL-8610AP is designed to allow IT professionals to get the most of their wireless network and maximize their users’ experience.
 
The DWL-8610AP — which has a suggested retail price of US$929 — delivers wireless performance using the latest 802.11ac standards with maximum wireless signal rates of up to 450 Mbps using the 2.4 GHz band, and 1300 Mbps using the 5 GHz band. It supports impressive device densities and offers optimal range and coverage over both bands, according to the folks at D-Link.
 
The DWL-8610AP can be powered using the included AC to DC adapter, or directly through the network cable using Power over Ethernet from any switch or midspan injector that supports IEEE 802.3at.
