SoftRAID (http://www.softraid.com) has released SoftRAID 5. The software replaces the functionality of Apple’s RAID driver. With version 5, users can create RAID 4, RAID 5 and RAID 1+0 volumes. SoftRAID supports TRIM for all RAID volumes under Mac OS X, including TRIM support for RAID 1+0, RAID 4 and RAID 5 volumes.

SoftRAID 5 requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later. Support for TRIM commands on SSDs requires 10.7.5 or later. The software is available for US$129 for the electronic download version and includes one year of free technical support via email. It can be purchased via the SoftRAID website, through your Apple Certified Consultant, and via retail outlets worldwide.

Users of SoftRAID 4 can purchase an upgrade to version 4 for $69. A 30-day demos is available for download.
