F1 2013 takes pole position for March 6 release for the Mac

Feral Interactive announced that F1 2013, the Formula 1 racing simulation video game, will be released for the Mac on March 6. It’s developed and published by Codemasters for consoles and PCs.

Here’s how the game is described: “F1 2013 offers Mac gamers the chance to experience all the thrills of the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship, snd, for the first time in Codemasters’ award-winning series, race classic cars on iconic circuits in a new game mode called F1 Classics. F1 2013 features all the cars, stars and circuits from the 2013 season and includes all of the new rules, tyre changes and remodeled handling to authentically reflect the challenge and exhilaration of racing 2013’s stunning roster of Formula ONE™ cars.

“Additional content will be available in a premium edition of the video game, F1 2013: Classic Edition, which contains two DLC packs. The 1990s Content pack contains six classic cars, three each from the Ferrari and Williams teams, and lets players drive them as 1990s legends, including Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher. The Classic Track pack contains two additional tracks: Imola and Estoril, respectively the historic homes of the San Marino Grand Prix and the Portuguese Grand Prix.

All digital copies of the game purchased from anywhere other than Steam will be F1 2013: Classic Edition, while all boxed copies will be the standard edition of F1 2013. Players who purchase the game from Steam will be able to choose between the standard version of F1 2013 and F1 2013: Classic Edition. Players who purchase the standard edition of F1 2013 (either boxed or through Steam) can upgrade their game with the DLC packs via digital download.

Copies of the game purchased anywhere other than the Mac App Store will support 16-player cross-platform multiplayer using SteamPlay, and will require a Steam account for activation. Copies of the game purchased from the Mac App Store will support offline split-screen multiplayer only.

Minimum system requirements call for a 2.4GHz Intel Mac with at least 4.0GB RAM, 512MB or better graphics card, and Mac OS 10.9.1 or later. The following cards are unsupported: ATI X1xxx series, ATI HD2xxx series, Intel GMA series, Intel HD3000, NVIDIA 7xxx series, NVIDIA 8xxx series, NVIDIA 9xxx series, NVIDIA 3xx series, NVIDIA 1xx series.
