Ableton, in conjunction with Amazing Noises, has announced Dark Synth, a new Max for Live synthesizer. At its heart are 2,048 independently-controllable sine wave oscillators (partials) capable of creating many varieties of classic waveforms such as sawtooth and square wave.
Dark Synth also provides direct access to each partial and the ability to draw, modulate, distort, filter, and morph sounds at the spectral level. The interface lets users dial in complex and dynamic soundscapes, from vibrant warbling leads and warped bass sounds, to Detroit-style techno pads, lo-fi chillwave atmospheres, mutant organs, ambient textures, and more.
Along with stretch, overdrive, and granular stereo simulation effects, Dark Synth features the capability to create up to 128 detuned and phase-shifted copies of all 2,048 partials. The software is available for US$69. Go to http://tinyurl.com/kenfqmk for more info.
