Sock Monkey Software has introduces Boss Blocker 1.0, an app for controlling your Mac when you need to quickly switch screens. It extends a computer’s capabilities by performing multiple actions simultaneously with a customizable keyboard shortcut.

When triggered, Boss Blocker hides open apps and windows, mutes the system sound volume, pauses active media players, and more. In addition to the system control it offers, it can display one of three “productivity” windows or activate the screen saver. When triggered a second time, the app returns the system to its previous state, revealing hidden windows, restoring the sound volume, and starting media players where they left off.

Boss Blocker requires Mac OS X 10.7 or later. For a limited time, it’s available for US$1.99 exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Utilities category (http://tinyurl.com/pdowmvl).
