Incredible Bee has announced Archiver 2.1 (http://archiverapp.com/), an update to its archive tool for Mac OS X. The upgrade adds the ability to create archives in the RAR format.

Designed by Apple Design Award Winner Dietmar Kerschner, Archiver lets users open, create and convert archives, as well as split and combine files. With version 2.1, users can also take a sneak peak and preview, as well as split archives.

When creating RAR archives, Archiver 2.1 offers a number of options for power users, such as encrypting archives with a password and selecting a compression level. The update also allows users to convert archives from other formats (such as ZIP) to RAR.

Archiver costs US$19. A demo is available as a free download from the Archiver website. It runs initially in a 14-day trial mode with all features active. This is a paid upgrade for registered Archiver or iArchiver users. A 25% discount will run for two weeks.
