Kool Tools: Thunderbolt Express Dock

You want expansion, you got expansion with the US$299.99 Thunderbolt Express Dock that Belkin (www.belkin.com) was demoing at the recent Macworld/iWorld expo. And FireWire fans, which Apple has been ignoring on recent Mac models, will be especially thrilled.

The dock eliminates the need to constantly plug and unplug numerous cable connected peripherals to your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. It’s portable and lets you access multiple desktop devices with one cable.

The Thunderbolt Express Dock lets you simultaneously connect up to eight desktop devices, watch movies in Full HD 1080p, transfer volumes of data in seconds, and view online content at gigabit Ethernet speeds — all with, as mentioned one cable. It packs one Thunderbolt port, one FireWire 800 port, one Gigabit Ethernet port, three USB 3.0 ports, one 3.5mm-out port and one 3.5mm-in port.

The Belkin dock also looks great. Its silver, low-profile design complements any modern Mac.
