Samsung says it will drop its injunction applications against Apple in five European countries, “in a major U-turn in a long-running patents war between the electronics giants,” reports the “Wall Street Journal” (http://macte.ch/WLVTX).

The South Korean company will drop injunction applications in Germany, France, the U.K., Italy and the Netherlands, a senior executive told the “WSJ.” However, it will continue to pursue lawsuits in Europe, where it alleges infringements on its products, it said.

This is all part of the ongoing, global legal battle. Apple and Samsung have filed more than 30 lawsuits against each other across four continents. For example, Apple alleges that Samsung copied the slide-to-unlock technology of its iPhone and iPad devices.
